Music Bike – Product Requirements Document
1. Project Summary Music Bike aims to revolutionize the cycling experience by transforming rider actions into a dynamic, real-time musical journey. Using sensors mounted on the bicycle (measuring motion like speed, tilt, and G-force) connected via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to an Android application, the system will adaptively manipulate music playback using the FMOD audio…

Week 3 Update – Prototype Assembled, App Structure Built
Following the arrival of our components last week, Week 3 saw significant progress on two major fronts: hardware prototyping and the foundational development of the MusicBike Android application. Hardware Prototype Live! We successfully assembled our core components—the ESP32-S3 development board, MPU9250 IMU, and KY-003 Hall Effect sensor—onto a breadboard. The great news is we have…

Week 2 Update – Hardware Incoming & FMOD Exploration
Our parts are on the way and expected to arrive tomorrow. This shipment includes: We also secured hardware for our stretch goals: Once these arrive, we’ll begin building the first prototype and start testing hardware this week. In parallel, we’ve been diving into FMOD Studio. Originally built for video game audio, it offers deep potential…

System hardware requirements
Week 1 Update: Our team is defining hardware specifications for the prototype. We’re establishing requirements for a microcontroller with Bluetooth capability, 9-axis IMU integration, display support, and wheel speed sensor compatibility. Rather than limiting future development, we’re specifying components with headroom for design evolution as the project progresses.
